The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s leading humanitarian organization, providing food assistance in emergencies and aiding sustainable recovery. WFP seeks a Logistics Assistant in Lusaka to support logistics operations, enabling effective delivery of goods and services.

This role is ideal for professionals with logistics, supply chain, or transport management expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate logistics activities to ensure timely delivery of food and supplies.

Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) using WFP systems.

Oversee inventory management, ensuring accurate tracking from source to beneficiaries.

Manage vendor contracts, monitor performance, and verify invoices for payment.

Collect and compile data to produce reports supporting decision-making.

Contribute to operational planning and pipeline analyses.

Provide support for logistics emergency preparedness and response activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:
Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Logistics Management, or Transport Management is preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain, or contract management.

Skills:
Proficiency in managing logistics systems, budget monitoring, and reporting. Experience in coordinating third-party vendor contracts.

Language:
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an advantage.
