Overview:

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a United Nations agency, is seeking a qualified National Agronomist in Lusaka, Zambia. The role focuses on implementing sustainable and smart agricultural technologies to improve productivity, reduce food waste, and enhance market access.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical support in smart farming practices and technologies for vegetable production.

Train farmers in sustainable farming and post-harvest management.

Supervise demonstration farms to promote knowledge sharing.

Collect and analyze data on food loss and waste reduction.

Collaborate with government agencies, extension services, and local farmers to optimize agricultural practices.

Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Economics, or related fields.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in agronomy, agricultural development, or research.

Proficiency in climate-smart agriculture and data analysis tools.

Strong knowledge of crop production, irrigation systems, and soil science.

Must be a Zambian national with working knowledge of English.
