About the Power Line Technician Role

First Quantum Minerals, a leading copper mining company in Zambia, is seeking an experienced Electrical Linesman / Power Line Technician for our Kansanshi Mine operations in Solwezi. Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Linesman Position

– Install and maintain high-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems across our mining operations
– Perform overhead power line maintenance and installations according to Zambian electrical safety standards
– Conduct power line inspections and implement preventative maintenance programs
– Work with LV and MV transformers in mining environments
– Handle emergency power line repairs and system upgrades
– Ensure compliance with mining safety regulations and electrical standards

Required Qualifications and Experience

– Grade 12 School Certificate with passes in relevant subjects
– Technical certification in Electrical Engineering or Power Line Installation from a recognized Zambian institution
– Valid Zambian driver’s license (Manual transmission, Light Motor Vehicle)
– Minimum 2 years’ experience in mining or industrial power line maintenance
– Proven experience in:
– Power line pole climbing and aerial work
– LV/MV transformer maintenance
– Switchyard operations
– Reading electrical schematics and drawings
– Using specialized power line tools and equipment
