Job Details:

Position: Operator, Process – Furnace Tapping – Isaconvert
Location: Kansanshi, Solwezi
Department: Smelter Process
Reporting to: Senior Tapper – Isasmelt
Grade: 9
Contract Type: Fixed Term

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Tapping Operator with all Isaconvert tapping floor activities.

Open and close blister/slag tap holes as directed.

Prepare Modified Polished Plugs (MPPs) and Dobbie Bars.

Maintain a smooth flow of blister and slag during tapping operations.

Perform housekeeping duties on tapping floors and lower levels.

Respond to alarms and process disturbances promptly.

Operate safety systems, including Emergency Stop Systems, in emergencies.

Take temperature readings and deliver samples as required.

Communicate plant status clearly to the Senior Tapper or Foreman.

Understand and explain plant equipment and emergency systems to others.

Qualifications:

Grade 12 certificate.

Experience:

Required:

At least 1 year of experience in mining-related operations.
Desirable:

Exposure to blister tapping and preparation of Polish Plugs or MPPs.

Behavioural Traits:

Attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Responsible, disciplined, and team-oriented approach to work.

Ability to implement changes in operating practices effectively.

Operational Requirements:

Ability to lance open tap holes.
