Job Purpose
As a Community Livelihood Officer, you will play a vital role in improving the livelihoods of communities impacted by mining activities. Working at Kansanshi Mine in Solwezi, you will design and implement sustainable development programmes that benefit local communities, fostering positive relationships and economic growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, and organizations.
Conduct consultations to identify community needs, opportunities, and challenges.
2. Programme Development and Management
Develop and oversee sustainable livelihood initiatives such as agriculture, vocational training, and entrepreneurship.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to create impactful projects.
3. Capacity Building
Organize workshops and training sessions to enhance community skills and self-sufficiency.
Mentor and support local businesses with resources and guidance.
4. Partnerships and Collaboration
Work with government agencies, NGOs, and external partners to amplify project impact.
Represent Kansanshi Mine at public forums and community meetings.
5. Monitoring and Evaluation
Implement frameworks to measure programme success and community benefits.
Prepare detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Compliance and Reporting
Ensure alignment with company policies, environmental standards, and social responsibility practices.
Maintain accurate financial and operational records.
7. Crisis Management
Address community concerns and grievances proactively.
Collaborate with leadership to mitigate potential conflicts effectively.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Environmental Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience
At least 3 years of experience in community development, corporate social responsibility, or related roles, ideally within the mining sector.
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of sustainable development principles and socio-economic challenges in mining regions.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
Familiarity with local cultures and languages in North Western Province is an asset.
Operational Requirements
Willingness to travel to communities and mining sites regularly.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
