Job Overview
The Environmental Technician – Mine Site Rehabilitation plays a key role in restoring mined land. This position ensures compliance with environmental regulations, oversees rehabilitation efforts, and manages biodiversity projects.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct site evaluations to assess environmental impact and rehabilitation needs.
Develop and implement mine rehabilitation strategies.
Oversee landscaping, erosion control, and revegetation efforts.
Manage tree nurseries and native vegetation planting.
Monitor and report on rehabilitation progress and environmental impact.
Train field workers on best practices in mine rehabilitation.
Implement beekeeping management to enhance biodiversity.
Stay updated on environmental regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in Forestry, Agroforestry, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental rehabilitation, preferably in mining.
Key Skills
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and rehabilitation techniques.
Project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Data analysis and GIS proficiency.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Work Conditions
Requires physical endurance, including walking and standing.
Exposure to all weather conditions.
Age requirement: Below 40 years.
