Role Overview

As an Air Con Technician, you will report directly to the Electrical Shift Supervisor and play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of mining equipment. Your expertise will help establish and maintain preventative and responsive electrical maintenance protocols in a challenging and dynamic mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance:

Follow the company’s planned maintenance schedules to ensure minimal disruption to mining production.

Technical Troubleshooting:

Diagnose electrical system malfunctions using test equipment and hand tools, and execute timely repairs.

Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to all relevant policies, legal requirements, and safety protocols while reporting incidents promptly.

Team Collaboration:

Support continuous improvement initiatives and work collaboratively with team members to enhance overall safety and operational efficiency.

Tool Management:

Ensure the correct use, maintenance, and replacement of tools as needed, and assist in recording all maintenance activities.

Communication & Reporting:

Clearly communicate maintenance objectives and generate reports to support management oversight.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience:

A minimum of five years’ experience in a mining environment as an artisan is required, with a proven track record in maintaining low voltage systems (24vdc) and working with ancillary mining equipment.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading electrical drawings and using refrigerant measuring instruments.

Familiarity with large mining mobile equipment is essential.

Certifications:

Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Craft Certificate

Valid Zambian Driving License

Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)

Minimum Grade 12 school certificate; all certificates must be ZAQA certified.
