Job Overview
Lumwana Mining Company, part of Barrick, is hiring a skilled Crane Operator to join our Maintenance Team. This role requires an experienced professional committed to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence in a dynamic mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect cranes to ensure safety before operation.
Operate cranes to lift and move materials per manufacturer specifications.
Plan and execute lifts, ensuring proper setup and adherence to safety protocols.
Respond to hand and verbal signals from riggers and helpers.
Determine load safety using load charts and adhere to crane capacity limits.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of cranes.
Ensure lift plans, JSAs, and all required documents are completed for every lift.
Identify and use safe slinging techniques to lift and lower loads securely.
Uphold company policies, and stop unsafe tasks when necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
Grade 12 Certificate.
Valid Crane Operator’s License.
Minimum 4 years of experience as a crane operator in large-scale mining operations.
Experience with fixed and mobile cranes in multi-pit mining environments.
Valid Zambian Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
Physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
