Job Overview

Lumwana Mining Company is seeking Industrial Hygiene Interns to join the Occupational Health and Safety Team. This internship offers hands-on experience in industrial hygiene monitoring, health, and safety operations at one of Zambia’s largest mining companies.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct workplace assessments to identify health hazards, including air quality, noise, and chemical exposure.

Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations.

Maintain industrial hygiene programs (respiratory protection, noise control, chemical hygiene, ergonomics).

Collect and analyze samples of hazardous materials such as dust, gases, and chemicals.

Recommend hazard control measures, including PPE, engineering, and administrative controls.

Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment.

Prepare detailed reports with risk assessments and recommendations for workplace safety improvements.

Requirements

Grade 12 Certificate.

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health Science, or Chemistry.

Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and occupational safety regulations.

Proficiency in using air quality monitors, noise dosimeters, and other sampling equipment.

Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Clean manual driver’s license (advantageous).
