Job Overview

Lumwana Mining Company, a part of Barrick Gold Corporation, offers an exciting internship program in its Mineral Resource Department – FS Section. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates and early-career professionals interested in Barrick careers and gaining hands-on experience in geology and mining operations in Zambia’s Copperbelt region.

As a Mine Geologist Intern, you’ll support the Project Geologist by managing drilling operations, geological data collection, and ensuring high data quality standards to support resource modeling at the Lumwana copper mine. If you have a degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related field and are interested in geology internships in Zambia, this could be your path to a mining career at Barrick.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise ground clearing and pad preparation for drilling.

Collect and log geological data from RC chip samples, assays, and field spectroscopy.

Assist in preparing geological sections, including lithology and mineral assessments.

Ensure timely entry and validation of geological data in company databases.

Monitor QA/QC in lab assays and report issues proactively.

Participate in safety initiatives, incident reporting, and promote safe practices.

Qualifications

Degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or related field.

Familiarity with geological and mining principles.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of geological software is a plus.

Willingness to work in field conditions.
