Job Overview:

Lumwana Mining Company seeks a skilled Shift Metallurgist to join the Process team in Kalumbila, Zambia. This role is critical in optimizing production, ensuring safety, and controlling costs at our advanced copper concentrator facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety policies.

Optimize metallurgical processes, including crushing, SAG and ball milling, flotation, dewatering, and concentrate dispatch.

Conduct laboratory flotation tests, plant surveys, and interpret results.

Propose solutions for technical and operational challenges, leveraging advanced scientific techniques.

Monitor and improve recovery rates, concentrate quality, and cost efficiency.

Collaborate with Senior Metallurgists to implement operating parameters.

Supervise metallurgical laboratories and oversee reagent inventory management.

Develop training materials for Process Operators.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding tailings management.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in large copper concentrators.

Expertise in geo-met test works is a plus.

Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
