Job Summary
As a Payroll Officer, you will report to the Payroll Manager and oversee monthly salary processing, payroll reconciliations, statutory deductions (NAPSA, NHIMA, ZRA), and employee benefits management.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing (80%)
Process monthly salaries and wages accurately.
Handle payroll amendments (loans, promotions, allowances, new hires, exits).
Ensure payroll changes are approved and documented.
Manage payroll reconciliations per banking and HR policies.
Process terminal benefits for exiting employees (retirement, resignation, redundancy).
Generate payroll reports and ensure compliance with Zambian labor laws.
Prepare and reconcile NAPSA, NHIMA, and ZRA payments before due dates.
Payroll Control & Compliance (20%)
Maintain payroll confidentiality and restrict access to authorized personnel.
Perform monthly payroll backups and store data securely.
Conduct payroll system tests and escalate issues as needed.
Follow HR policies and governance related to payroll management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Diploma/Degree in Business, Commerce, or related field.
Experience in payroll management, payroll processing, and statutory payments.
Knowledge of HR and payroll software.
Strong skills in Excel, data analysis, and payroll reconciliations.
