Job Description – Cashier Role:

We are seeking dedicated cashiers to provide excellent customer service and efficient cash handling at our retail stores in Zambia.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide quality customer retention and service at Choppies supermarkets

Ensure cash drawer accuracy at the beginning and end of each shift

Process all points of sale transactions efficiently

Scan merchandise and calculate totals including tax, coupons, and discounts

Verify pricing using barcode scanners and POS systems

Accept cash, check, and credit card payments from customers

Provide accurate change and receipts

Balance cash registers and transfer money to safe/cash office

Handle customer service inquiries and escalate to management when needed

Greet customers professionally when entering or leaving the store

Ensure customer satisfaction through pleasant interaction

Cashier Jobs Requirements – Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Education:

High school diploma, Grade 12 certificate, or equivalent qualification

Required Certifications:

Food handlers’ certification

Food production certification

Work Experience:

1-2 years of cashier experience in retail or supermarket environment

Previous experience in customer service roles (preferred)

Essential Skills for Cashier Position:

Basic knowledge of food preparation

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Physical fitness and ability to work at heights

Must be medically fit

Computer skills and POS system experience

Basic math and calculation skills

Excellent customer service abilities

Honesty and trustworthiness in handling cash transactions

Age Requirement:

Must be 18 years or older (legal requirement for handling money in Zambia)
